Hemodialysis means blood purification from toxic substances, tissue decay products, and the consequences of the infectious process. Another name for hemodialysis is "artificial kidney", because this device during the procedure replaces the function of the kidneys and partially the liver in detoxifying the body, removing toxins and excess fluid.
The procedure for cleaning the blood outside the injured person's body can increase survival in cases of severe trauma, burn disease, sepsis, which occupy the majourity of combat pathology today caused by high-energy weapons, with significant damage to two or more organs or systems, complicated by severe traumatic shock and septic conditions, and multiple organ failure.
